Arvida  Country Club Men's & Womens   1-10   Pairs  16th November

The second event of the year  at Roxburgh was the 1-10 yr Men’s and Women’s 2x4x2 pairs. Although a little cool early on the day warmed up nicely so playing conditions were very good.
There were 14 entries for the men and 18 entries for the women. It was pleasing to see so many new faces. The standard of play was high and some surprising results occurred early on .
Our thanks to the Roxburgh personnel who made sure everyone was well looked after .

Mens Winners were Paul Spooner (ADC) and Dave Chisholm (Clyde) runners up were Len Lynskey and Sean Geary (Alexandra)

Women: winners were Bev Mee and Raewyn Hall of Wanaka, runners up were Nikki Milne and Trish Harris of Omakau.

Arvida Queenstown Country Club Mixed  Pairs  8th & 9th November

This season got underway on the 8/9 November at Queenstown and Arrowtown greens with the mixed pairs attracting 40 entries (good effort). The weather was a bit chilly to start with a minnie tornado sweeping over the Arrowtown green shifting mats and bowls around, despite this some really good bowls were played with some scores not indicating the closeness of some of the games.

Congratulations Kim Tilly and Tom Malcolm (Wanaka ) winners  of the tournament who defeated Alister Watson and Shirley Walker (Clyde) in the final.  Tilly and Malcolm will now be the Central Otago representatives in the NZ Champion of Champions in September 2026.

Congratulations to the following women on being selected to represent Central Otago to play in the Triangular Tournament (Southland & South Otago) at Roxburgh on Friday 5 December 2025. Go well

Congratulations to the following men  selected to represent Central Otago in the CO vs Southland Tournament to be played at Invercargill on Sunday 30 November 2025. Good luck to all.

Bowling Arms

Letter Received from Bowls NZ on 22 October 2025

In recent weeks we have been approached by two bowling arm manufacturers with regard to the suitability of their products for use in New Zealand.

We have assessed the two Bowling Arm models below:

“Bowlar S-R” (Australian made)

“Sniper” (New Zealand made)

We are pleased to advise that they both meet the requirements of the Bowls New Zealand Regulation (as below):

The Australian made has a series of videos uploaded onto You Tube which may be helpful.

Taking Photographs

Thanks we are getting good photos coming in from the tournaments. We are including runners up as well. If someone is a keen photographer the newspapers like action photos, if you send me any they could be useful as well and can make our website more interesting. e.g. Someone delivering, Deep in thought, Jubilant, A pair crossing paths with a hand slap etc.

Also we are always on the lookout for photos for our clubs page OR an interesting scene for next years cover.

Please keep sending.

Note that the large photos are the best. Open your email then attach the photo from the photo file. (Sending from the photo minimises the file for email sending and is no good for newspapers , reprinting etc.)

Sending Attachments

Sending attachents in word are difficult for some people to open. Before sending change the attachment to a pdf . Go to "Save a Copy" and then choose pdf then "Save".  Go to your email and attach this pdf you have saved from the file.
